Assign judges to events and control points, manage control points, and review all assignments. This guide answers common questions and explains all controls.
Introduction
Use this panel to manage which judges evaluate an event, either generally or at specific Control Points (e.g., Start Gate, Jump 1, Finish Line). You can create/edit/delete control points, assign/unassign judges, and see the full assignment table.
Workflow: Step 1 select Event → Step 2 select or create a Control Point → Step 3 assign Judges.
General Judging: Assign judges without a control point for overall judging.
Conflicts: The panel warns if judges are already assigned elsewhere; you can allow multi‑assignment when needed.
Step 1 – Select Event
Choose the event from the dropdown. The page refreshes to load available control points and current assignments.
If no events appear, create events first in the Events section.
Step 2 – Control Points
General Judging: The first card assigns judges to the whole event (no specific point).
Add Control Point: Click Add to create a named area with optional description.
Edit: Change name, description, Status (Active/Inactive), and Weight (score multiplier 0–2).
Delete: Remove a point that has no judges assigned. Unassign judges first if needed.
Indicators:
SELECTED highlights the current point.
Order shows display/sort order in tables.
Weight shows the multiplier used in scoring.
Inactive hides the point from active judging flows.
Step 3 – Assign Judges
Tick judges to assign them to the selected Control Point or to General Judging.
Save Judge Assignments commits your selection.
Toggle All Judges quickly selects/deselects all.
Head Judges show a Head Judge badge.
Multi‑assigned judges display a badge listing other control points.
Conflict warnings: If a chosen judge is already assigned to a different control point, you’ll see a warning with an option to Assign Anyway (Multi‑assignment). Use this intentionally when a judge must cover multiple points.
Current Assignments
Right side shows a table of judges grouped by Control Point plus a General Judging row.
Each judge badge includes a quick × button to unassign from that row.
The footer summary displays counts: Control Points, Total Assignments, Unique Judges.
Legend clarifies regular vs Head Judge styling.
FAQs
What’s the difference between General Judging and Control Points?
General Judging assigns judges to the entire event. Control Points represent specific stations or criteria, letting you route judges to specialized areas.
Why did I get a conflict warning?
You selected judges already assigned elsewhere for this event. You can still proceed with multi‑assignment if that’s intended.
Why can’t I delete a Control Point?
Control Points with assigned judges cannot be deleted. Unassign the judges from that point first, then retry.
What does Weight do?
Weight is a multiplier used by the scoring system to adjust how much a Control Point contributes to final scores (1.0 = full, 0.8 = 80%).
How do I see who is assigned where?
Use the Current Assignments table. It lists all assignments grouped by Control Point, with quick unassign actions.
How do I mark someone as Head Judge?
Head Judge status is managed in the Users/Judges configuration. This panel displays that status but doesn’t change it.
My changes didn’t apply after Save.
Ensure you saved in the correct Control Point context. The page redirects to show the updated selection; check the confirmation message.
Troubleshooting
Nothing shows: Select an Event first. If still empty, verify events and users exist.
Database errors: See the note in the Control Point dialogs about running the SQL migration for additional fields.
Stale page after Save: Let the redirect complete; avoid using the back button. Re‑select the event if needed.
